European Holiday

Cologne Cathedral looms in the back.
Old Town, Cologne.
Just got back from a few weeks in Europe where we visited Cologne, Amsterdam, and Brussels. We wanted to visit before the summer crowds hit the cities and the trains.

Had a fabulous time! Drank delicious beer and German wines. Of course, we had our fair share of chocolates, Belgian waffles (my fave), and pommes frites.

All three cities are walking cities, and we logged anywhere from 8-10 miles a day, exploring. My only regret? I didn't bring enough sweaters but, thankfully, I brought a raincoat.

Amsterdam! Cold and rainy but beautiful!
Sprinkled around this post are a few photos. Click them to

I posted more photos on my Facebook page if you are interested in
seeing more of these beautiful cities.

Here's hoping you have a terrific summer with fun travels!

What a great adventure. Yes, perfect time to go and beat the crowds.

I haven't been blog visiting for a while but I'm glad I found this post. I went over to your Facebook page to see the other photos. My husband's aunt lived in Cologne. She and his mom were both taken from Poland during WWII to work on forced labor farms in Germany. After the war, his aunt settled in Cologne and his family came to the States. The sisters never saw each other again but my husband managed to visit his aunt and set up a phone call between them (his aunt didn't have a phone, she had to go to her neighbor's). After that first call, which his mom cried all the way through, the sisters talked to each other every month until his aunt passed away.

I really enjoyed seeing those pictures.
