My Mother 1926-2012

I've been delaying this post because I've been in denial about it but it's time.

My beautiful mother passed away late last month and has now joined my father. We were able to bury her on what would have been my parents' 63rd wedding anniversary.  My brother, sister, and I are convinced that my dad had a hand in the timing.  My father was not a patient man. :-)  It gives us much comfort to know that our parents would never spend a single anniversary apart.

As a child, no matter your age, you never truly believe that your parents will leave you but then one day they do.  The sadness is indescribable.  That's why I want to thank the online community for all the support that I've received this past year, especially following my father's death.  I've received so many kind notes and words of encouragement.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Hold your parents close.  Value and appreciate the time you can spend together.  I'd give just about anything for one more minute with my mom and my dad.

xoxo

So sorry you lost both parents so close together, but sweet that she was buried on their anniversary. My parents are getting up in age and I know I'll be a basket case when they die.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Liz. So difficult for you when it came so close to losing your dad. How good that you could bury your mother on the anniversary though.
Sending hugs. :(

There are no words and nothing that I can do other than take heed of your advice and spend time with my parents. As much as I possible can. Yesterday we drove over to the Monterey Bay Aquarium for the day, taking my dad. He had never been and my teenagers had been wanting to share it with him. Mom won't go anywhere and risk leaving my 90+ year old grandmother alone. She is doing great and still lives alone in her own home, but mom won't leave. *sigh* In any event, it was a good day.
So sorry for your recent losses. *hugs*

Oh, Liz,

I am terribly sorry for your loss. I know exactly how you feel. It should be comforting to know that you had them with you for so long and that they are back together.

I lost both my parents in my thirties, so I had a short time with them. I miss them constantly, especially during the holidays.

We never truly get over them passing, but all the wonderful memories will be within you always and they will surface when you need them most.

Hugs, sweetie.

Take care of yourself.

I am so sorry Liz. You have already been through so much this year. I have lost one parent already and cannot manage to even comprehend what it would be like to loose both. You and your family are in my prayers.

My heart hurts for you, Liz. I can't imagine how hard it must be for you. I'm so glad your parents were with you long enough to see you become an author. They must have been so proud. I hope wherever they are they are together.
Take care of yourself.

I'm so so sorry to hear this, Liz. And you just recently lost your father, too, right? My older brother and I were actually just discussing how our parents would probably follow each other closely.

You're in my thoughts and prayers. It's a hard thing. I can't even imagine. ((huge hugs)) <3
