A Few of My Favorite Things

I have lots of old photos and memorabilia in my office.  I like to surround myself with stuff, particularly photos, that brings back happy memories and generally just makes me smile.

My latest gizmo?  A "Bloom Big" solar powered little doohickey, a gift from my sister.  Whenever I take a writing break, I look at it and the little daisy petals wave back at me.  See it in the forefront of this picture?  Isn't it adorable?!  It's the little things.  Thanks, Mary!

What do you keep in your writing space or office that makes you smile or inspires you?

Now that you mention it, maybe I should give my writing desk a little more personality. I just have a lot of books and stationary on my desk.

Oooh, I love the green lava lamp!

I've got a bulletin board of running stuff in front of my desk. (I'm the world's SLOWEST runner, so don't be impressed.) It's got race bibs, my medals from the half marathons I've completed, a blown-up picture I took of my favorite running trail, and my race entries for my next couple of races (a 4 miler next month and a 1/2 marathon in October).

When I get stuck writing I stare at that board and remember that with hard work and commitment, I've managed to do things I previously thought were "impossible".

That is very cool. I love the whole photo display with the lava lamp and everything.

I don't have a "writing space". I just sit on my living room couch but sometimes, I do change the wallpaper on my computer to fit the mood of what I'm writing so I could get inspiration from that.

I have little things throughout my house but definitely need to put more focus on my 'office.' Thanks for the reminder Liz. And I love your collection of goodies :)

Someone gave me figures from the computer game Starcraft, and they sit on either side of my monitor. Puts me in the science fiction mood!

Hi, Liz. We have one of those as well. My wife has it in the front window. The cat usually ignores it, but I do find it on the ground some mornings.
Sadly, I don't currently have an office. I usually commandeer a spot on the dining room table or top of our bedroom dresser. If I'm in the great room where most of the action is, I usually have my headphones with me. All I need in order to write is few distractions.

A few folks at work have those daisies - I think they're adorable! I don't have an actual desk to write on - just me and the laptop on the couch. I wish I had a big corkboard!

My space is a bit cluttered but the main inspiration is the music and the camaraderie (My BF is writing a few inches away!). Cheers!!
