So Close And Yet So Far

You know how it is when you get to the final couple of chapters of your current WIP and you can taste "The End"?  Yeah, I am so there.  As long as there are no apocalypses or natural disasters this week, I'll be finishing a first draft of Played, my companion young adult novel to Hooked.  Hate to jinx myself, but I'm really liking it!

I can see The End.  I just need to get there.  It will taste like chocolate and cupcakes and sugar cookies with sprinkles.

The nice thing is I'm visiting my sister this week so she can help me celebrate.  There will be pretty pink Cosmos and brie cheese in our future and she happens to live within twenty miles of my most favorite restaurant in the whole world.  I'm ready to clink a glass.

What do you do to celebrate your major accomplishments?

That's wonderful! I can't wait to be there! I would probably not write for like a week and do something that I like to do for fun, preferrably with my husband. Like go out.

Congrats! You're almost there!

You know, I really like that cupcake idea! Are you visiting your sister in Chicago?

Usually buy myself something completely frivolous or add a new tattoo, as I did yesterday. :)

Congrats Liz!

I haven't set up any real celebration ritual but there's usually a :Snoopy dance: LOL

I'm in exactly the same place as you, just a few more chapters to go. Sadly no cosmos in my immediate future!

You're at an exciting place with your writing. For me, a casual dinner out with the fam is always a good celebration, to just relish the moment for an evening ...

This is an exciting place to be! What I do is get out of the house! Anything, go shopping, for a drive, see a movie. Because when I'm really into writing I shut down and become a hermit.

Tell us when you've typed those last words. We'll all join in some virtual bubbly.

Yeah! That's great news. I indulge in good food, movies, and game playing. Oh wait, I do that all the time...

Congrats!

Ends of projects for me are like those doors in cartoons that get farther away the faster you chase it. Actually managed to snag a few, but they're quick, I tell you.

Ooo a martini does sound like a fun way to celebrate being done. I feel like a party pooper when I say my favorite thing to do after the end is not doing anything. Sit on my behind and enjoy the sensation of not rushing, multitasking or running someplace to do whatever.

yay for you!
when i get near the end, i tend to rush and its over. this edit i will try to slow down =)

Sounds like a great way to celebrate, Liz!! Congrats on nearly being there!

I tend to celebrate with at least a glass of wine...or a glass of something at least. Incidentally, I'm a BIG fan of white wine and chocolate. At the same time.

The End are my two favourite words in writing. Such a satisfying feeling.

Oh, I do hope you chink your glass asap, Liz!

Cheers Liz! When I read the part about it feeling like cupcakes & cookies with sprinkles...it reminded me of the movie 'Michael'. Did you see it? Everyone thought he smelled of sweets or their favorite things. :-) I do the same as you to celebrate....good food and wine. Enjoy your week!!!

Thanks for the encouraging and kind words!

I'm actually working on the final chapter now. Almost almost almost there. Thought I'd have it done last week but now looks like this week instead. So dang close...
