Blog BBQ and Comfort Foods

Karen J over at Coming Down the Mountain is getting the virtual party started this weekend with a weekend BBQ in honor of Labor Day here in the States.  Regardless of where you're from, it's a great way to meet new people and bloggers, eat and drink till your heart's content, and never gain a single pound. Rain or shine, what's not to like?

Naturally, I've opted to bring the adult beverages to the virtual BBQ, the kind that require the pretty little umbrellas.  No matter what you want, I've got it.

So, stop over at Karen's site, view the invitation, and leave a comment on as many sites as you'd like to visit.  I've only got one question for anyone who drops by my blog: What's your favorite comfort food?

Mine?

Tomato soup and grilled cheese.  Just thinking about my fav comfort foods reminds me of cold winter afternoons when I was a kid.  My sisters and I would come home from school for lunch, frozen from trudging through the snow, and Mom would have this waiting for us.  Naturally, she would cut our grilled cheese sandwiches just so, which is to say diagonally.  Not too much butter and the perfect amount of cheese.  Pure heaven.

So, what's your fav?

Since I've been sick, tomato soup and grilled cheese sounds so good. My favorite comfort food is macaroni and cheese. I'm so glad I got to start off with a drink over here. (Okay, wine bottle sitting alone in the wine holder over there, I've got my eyes on you.) Nice to meet you!

Hi Brenda!

I've got a pitcher of margaritas all ready if you're interested! :-)

Mac & cheese is my definite second fav. Thanks for dropping by. I'll be getting out the karaoke machine later! ;-)

In my catlike existence - tuna!
As a human? A ripe homegrown tomato on a crisp savoury biscuit - (cracker) to you!

Yum! You're speaking my language, catdownunder! I love tomatos on just about anything.

Hey, and nice to "meet"/follow on all your social network channels. The BBQ at Karen's is a great idea!

Weird that grilled cheese & 'mater soup is such a popular comfort food. I'm from the hot, sweaty deep south, and it's still my fav! It's my co-editor/publisher @KatMagendie at Rose & Thorn Journal's fav too.

Got tons of recipes at my blog if you ever need ideas. (Just search through Tasty Tuesday posts.) :D

Thanks for stopping by! I'm always game for good recipes. :-) Will be by your blog to check them out.

Comfort food: Macaroni and cheese ... mmmm.... so good, and so bad for you.

Great BBQ :::helps self to margarite::: -- it's five o'clock somewhere!

Hi Marianne!

So glad you could join! If you like salt on the rim of your margarita, help yourself. :-) Yes, mac & cheese does not disappoint. And I've seen so many great receipes for it over the year but nothing compares to the way Mom used to make it. (I think it came from a Kraft box!)

Chocolate. Just chocolate. Can't live without it.

Ooooh, that's a tough one! I can only choose one? How about one savory and one sweet? Sweet = homemade chocolate chip cookies, starwberries and premium vanilla ice cream. Savory = Thick french pea soup with baguette smothered in butter! - G

i'd take kebabs and cyber ice cream over here and Liz a margarita sounds like what the doctor ordered.
Nice blog layout by the way

Hi Heather,

You're speaking my language! I believe chocolate is one of the daily required food groups--at least it is in my house! Chocolate covered espresso beans, anyone?!

Liz Fichera said...

Hi Georgina!

I always say eat dessert first! Thick pea soup sounds like a definite comfort food. And I'll take a freshly made baguette with soup any day!

Hi Joanna!

As Marianne above said, it's 5 o'clock somewhere. It's never too early to enjoy a margarita! And glad you like the new blog design. I got a hankering this morning to make a few changes. The old design was looking a little boring to me.

Yep me too. Tomato soup and grilled cheese. Is it an American thing? I'm from the Midwest, so I thought it was Midwestern! My other comfort food is cookies. Sweet, crunchy and homebaked!

Liz Fichera said...

Hi Karen!

Thanks for getting the BBQ Blog Party started! I don't know if tomato and grilled cheese is an American/Midwest thing as much as it is a it-tastes-good-when-it's-freaking-cold-out-and-fairly-inexpensive-thing. So says my Mom. :-) I never turn down cookies.
